What is an SSO and what function does it serve?

Answer:

An SSO stands for Solar String Optimizer, and it is the component in the EnergyHub system that manages and integrates solar panels and solar energy production.

  • The SSO is a DC/DC converter that converts the voltage from panels to 760 V, which is the voltage of Ferroamp's DC grid.
  • The SSO features an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracker) that optimizes solar production from the connected solar string. It does this by constantly adjusting the current and voltage through the panels up and down to find the optimal level based on the sunlight intensity.
  • The SSO continuously communicates with the EnergyHub when the system is operational. It constantly measures the production and sends this data to the EnergyHub, which uploads the data to the EnergyCloud.
