In most hybrid inverters, there are 1-2 MPPT inputs with the possibility to connect 1-2 solar strings and the option to connect a battery. The hybrid inverter then controls whether the solar energy should be sent out to the property or stored in the battery. Some of the main differences include:
- In the EnergyHub, one don't directly connect solar panels or batteries. Instead, they are connected to a DC grid, which is then linked to the EnergyHub. We do this through:
- SSOs (Solar String Optimizers) capable of connecting one solar string per SSO.
- ESOs that connect and act as a bridge between our batteries and the DC grid.
This setup makes the EnergyHub system scalable. This means that if the installation later needs to be expanded with, for example, more solar panels in additional orientations and/or needs to be expanded with another battery, they are simply connected to the DC grid and become part of the EnergyHub system.
- The EnergyHub also features Ferroamp's patented dynamic phase balancing, ACE (Adaptive Current Equalization), which brings many benefits.
- Phase balancing protects your main fuse and optimizes the property's grid connection. This eliminates the need to upgrade your property at a high cost and instead allows you to secure and save money.
- Phase balancing also enables faster and more stable charging of electric vehicles by constantly balancing the other consumption in the property, making more power available to the vehicle without risking your main fuse tripping.
- Installation of an EnergyHub includes high-resolution smart metering to enable phase balancing.
- This enables smart control of the system in real-time based on consumption.
- This provides access to second-by-second metering data ranging from power consumption to solar production at the string level and data on battery performance, visualized in numbers and graphs in the EnergyCloud.
- Metering data allows for deeper analysis, and the EnergyHub also provides access to smart analysis tools in the EnergyCloud.
